September Trending Topics: "Census 2020. Why we need a complete count and how to get it"

Ask Dr. Terri Wright, Meyer Foundation Vice President for Program and Community, what two things good citizens must do, and she’ll say” Vote and Be Counted.” To let residents know how important it is for them to be counted, she is advocating that the Census Complete Count Committees issue stickers: “I was counted.”  Dr. Wright’s certainty that every head must be counted comes from her work in the DC metropolitan region where she has seen how federal funds allocated based on the census can help support crucial local programs, guide business decisions as to locations and services, and determine how legislative district lines are drawn.  Dr. Wright will tell us how Census data are used in our region on September 23, 2019 at 6:45pm at the Rockville Public Library. Joining her is Mr. Shawn Ellis from the Montgomery County Office of Community Partnerships. As Coordinator of the County’s Complete Count Committee, he will tell us how we’re going to get a complete count.  Shawn, a native of MoCo, is working with the Regional Services Centers, business groups, and non-profits to ensure everyone knows about and participates in Census 2020.
