Discussion Groups

LWVMC Members and their guests may participate in regular Discussion Group meetings to share information about LWVMC programs and activities. Some meetings are designed to update members on recent League activities. Other meetings focus on current policy issues and members discuss possible advocacy positions (examples of policy discussions from our 2024-2025 program year appear below).

Discussion Groups are generally held in the middle of the month. They may be in-person, virtual by Zoom, or hybrid. A link for the Zoom sessions will be sent to every member before Discussion Groups are held. If you have questions, please email Mary Ellen Condon at discussiongroups@lwvmocomd.org.

February 2026 Discussion Group Topic:
The LWVMC's Role in an Election Year

During an election year many people turn to the League for well-known products such as our Voters’ Guide and Vote411 and events such as candidate forums to help inform their decisions in the voting booth. The Voters’ Guide alone reaches more than 100,000 people in a typical election year. Our products and activities help shape public perception of the League as a nonpartisan, fact-based advocate for informed participation in elections; we neither support nor oppose any candidate or political party, including candidates for nonpartisan offices.

Please join us to learn more about the LWVMC's election year activities, refresh your knowledge, and find a volunteer opportunity that appeals to you.

Zoom links for virtual sessions will be sent to members via Discussion Group e-blasts. Members are welcome to invite guests to Discussion Groups.

The Constitutional Crisis: A Discussion of How Democracies Die

Those signs have occurred here. Protecting democracy requires that we conquer our fears and work to restore confidence in our institutions and behaviors. Our own Joe Borrelli will lead each of the five discussion groups scheduled for this topic. Come participate and determine what you can do.
