Food Security Plan
LWVMC reaches consensus on the Montgomery County Food Security Plan
With 60,000 County residents identified as lacking food security, the League’s members voted to support the County’s strategic plan to remedy the plight of those who struggle with hunger. In addition, the members recommend that the County intensify efforts to enroll eligible residents in SNAP, strengthen limited English proficient residents’ ability to acquire information on food assistance, ensure residents have public transportation to food sources, and step up nutrition education. Consensus authorizes our president to advocate on this issue.
