Who We Are

The Environmental Committee studies topics and advocates on the basis of the state and national Leagues’ public policy positions on natural resources/environmental topics.

What We Do

Those positions speak about air, land, and water resources, dealing with such subjects as coal, hazardous waste management, land-use and growth management, solid waste management, transportation, and climate change.

What We’re Keeping an Eye On

In 2019-20 the Environmental Committee culminated its two-year focus on the county’s solid waste management with preparation of a fact sheet and presentations at the March discussion groups’ meetings. Currently we expect to launch an examination of the recent set of 850 recommendations dealing with climate change drafted by the county’s community-based workgroups.
