LWVMD Legislative Day is the time when League members from throughout Maryland meet in Annapolis to remind our legislators of the League's priority issues and get their insights on how those bills are faring in the session.
This year, it's scheduled for Wednesday, March 1, and local LWV members are invited to participate. We will be well prepared in advance with materials on LWVMD priorities, and we'll divide into teams of two to visit briefly with 2 or 3 of our state legislators or their staff, but one of the teams visits each of our 32 Montgomery County legislators. We make those visits between 8:30 and 10:00, then the Legislature goes into session.
Then we reconvene. At that time we will hear a candid overview of the State Budget, from the expert who explains it to the legislators. We will also hear reports on bills related to League priorities, from the reporters who cover them for Report from State Circle, the League's legislative newsletter. Following lunch, some of us come home or stay later to observe a legislative or committee session.
Please register on the LWV Maryland State website (or download the flyer) and volunteer for specific assignments (and be included in carpool planning) or just to get more information, contact one of our two action co-chairs: firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com .
