With the election of Nancy Bliss as president for a two-year term, and with membership numbers at 411—an increase of 111 members since May 2016—the League prepares for a new program year.

Members voted to adopt two new studies: County 101; an information study of the County Council, County Executive, and Planning Department, and a study of substance use and abuse. Members also approved the re-adoption of the Montgomery County Public Policy Positions as posted; policy positions are the basis for testimony and advocacy.

All committee chairs, discussion group leaders, resource study chairs, and board members unanimously called on members to volunteer to help do the work planned for 2017-18. (To volunteer: call 301-984-9585, email: lwvmc@erols.com, or fill out a volunteer form.)
